A Food and Drug Administration panel is reviewing the effects that the flu medicine Tamiflu has had in the brains of more than 1,800 children worldwide. Symptoms have included delirium, delusions, and convulsions. For more information, click here.


According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the Wisconsin-based American Foods Group has voluntarily recalled nearly 96,000 pounds of ground beef products after two people were sickened, possibly by E. coli bacteria. The beef products include coarse- and fine-ground beef chuck, sirloin, and chop beef. The products subject to recall were produced on October 10th and distributed to retailers in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Virginia. Some of the recommended use-by dates have already expired, so consumers are urged to look in their freezers and return or throw out the products if they find them. For more information, click here.

Sailing International Corp. is recalling 8,000 flashing pacifiers. The nipple can detach from the base and pose a choking hazard to young children. For more information, click here.

Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. are recalling 10,000 Halloween-themed baskets due to excess levels of lead. The baskets, which sold for about $1, have lead in the paint that was used for witch, bat, and pumpkin emblems. For more information, click here.

Iceberg Enterprises LLC is recalling its plastic folding chairs, which are sold by office supply retailers across the country. There have been 15 reports of the chairs collapsing while in use, resulting in several minor injuries. For more information, click here.
